When I get a bit more adept at crochet bombing, I'll add this label to my pieces, so that the people that find them can get to this blog and post what they found! Cool label design, huh? I just took a line drawing from a painting and replaced the valkyries' spear with a crochet hook that I drew in Microsoft Paint. And plus, if there are others who want to join, I can just add an "s" to the end!

I decided to take a walk through Esther Short Park today, and distribute my crochet hearts. Here are the results:

I hope that you enjoyed my exploits! I had fun finding the perfect places to drop these beautiful little hearts.
In yarn bombing, one of the good things is that "tags" sometimes don't last very long - someone will remove it and take it home. This is what is intended - and although I'm sad to see a tag gone the day after I put it there, the spot is open for another beautiful tag to go in it's place....for someone else to take joy from!

I yarn bombed a Peets Coffee & Tea on Valentine's Day:

It's amazing that if you act like you are supposed to be doing what you're doing, people won't stop you. Several people came in and out of the store, none asked me what I was doing, or attempted to stop me.
I hope that the little heart gave people smiles on Valentines day! The next picture is a heart that I planted on a button for a crosswalk near the Jack-In-The-Box on 164th Ave.

It was starting to get windy, so I assume that it fell off of the button shortly after I left it. But still - Pretty!

Late Night Valentine's Surprise

The night before Valentines Day, I sneaked to my neighbor's door and placed a Valentine's Day crocheted heart on her door knocker!

She really enjoyed it, and I found a card taped on my door in the morning. It reads:

"Thank you! How very thoughtful to make the heart and leave it.
Honestly, I thought I'd go through Valentine's Day with nothing special.
Finding it made me smile."

This is why I think yarn bombing is an awesome idea - not only does it beautify whatever dull thing you put your artwork on, it makes people happier to see it.

My first tag - a fence post hat.

In public yarn art, we call our creations "tags", like graffiti artists. Our tags, though, are removable, soft, cuddly, and they don't damage property. This one started out as a baby hat - but it didn't turn out quite as planned. At least it's not a pile of frog yarn now!
I decided that one of the posts on our new fence around our apartment building looked rather chilly...so I gave it a little hat. The hat was gone the next morning; one of the good and bad things about street art. The bad thing is that it is gone...the good thing is that someone took it and is getting joy from it right now! (And, that spot is free to tag again. Hmmmmm...)
I was thinking of making some Crochet Valkyrie labels in the future...just so whoever picked up my art could come to my blog and tell me how I made their day!
